Mount Vernon led 17-13 after one quarter and then by 10, 35-25, at the half. All signs looked dim for the Houn' Dawgs at Mt. Vernon, but a strong third quarter run of 17-13 helped the Houn's get within 6 at the end of three.

The dry spell came to open the fourth quarter when Mt. Vernon scored the first 12 points of the quarter to build a commanding 60-42 advantage. Aurora could not recover, as they ended up losing their first conference game of the season to Mt. Vernon, 73-53.

Jordan Fronabarger led Aurora with 14, while Andrew Parker and Josh Fronabarger added 11 apiece. Garrett Bader had 10 to give the Houn' Dawgs four players in double figure scoring.
