Houndawgsports.com, in conjunction with the Aurora High School baseball program, is conducting a "Zeros 4 Heroes" event on Thursday, April 24 in Aurora and Tuesday, April 29 in Monett.
The Zeros 4 Heroes campaign will raise funds and awareness for the Missouri Veteran's Home residents in Mt. Vernon, MO.
The event will do this by having the Aurora varsity baseball players raise pledges from individuals and businesses in and around Aurora in regard to how many innings in these two baseball games they are able to hold their opponent to ZERO runs (maximum 14 innings). e.g. If the pledge is for $10 an inning and the Houn' Dawgs hold its opponent to no runs in five of the 14 possible innings, the pledger will donate $50. All monies pledged and donated will go to the MVH's Assistance League fund set up to go directly to residents of the facility in need.
The Thursday, April 24 home game ( 5 p.m. vs. Mt. Vernon) for Aurora will include the Missouri National Guard and guests from the MVH, themselves. Also, members of the Aurora baseball team will be organizing a trip to the Veteran's Home in Mt. Vernon for a meet-and-greet opportunity with residents.
