Parkview led 12-11 after one period and 26-19 at the break. Aurora pulled to within five by the end of the third, trailing 33-28. And then in the fourth period they trailed by as few as four and had a number of chances to get closer, but the wear of playing four games in four days took its toll. Lakin Waggoner led Aurora with 11 points, while Shanie Siegrist added 8 and Baylee Hilton 5. Aurora outscored Catholic 20-12 in the second period, on the strength of the shooting of Shania Siegrist and Erica Tucker. Catholic forged ahead briefly in the third quarter, but two consecutive treys from Rachel Parker forged Aurora back ahead to stay. Jordan Hall, who finished the game with a team=high 16 points, scored seven crucial points in the third. The lead grew to 16 by the final buzzer, as Aurora displayed solid free-throw shooting in the final stanza, going 12 of 14. The win on Thursday night came against Clever, 69-39. Lakin Waggoner, who hit three 3-pointers in a row in the first quarter powered Aurora to a 16-14 lead after one quarter and a strong second stanza by Baylee Hilton, who also scored 13 points on the night, gave the Lady Houn's an 11-point halftime cushion, 35-24. Rachel Parker was the third Lady Houn' to score 13 in the win, as she scored 9 of her's in the second half. Shania Siegrist also chipped in 9 points. Aurora will play Springfield Catholic Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Weiser Gym on the campus of Drury University. A win tomorrow would put Aurora in the consolation title game on Saturday. Aurora held an early 6-4 lead before Republic reeled off 21 straight, including four 3-pointers in a row, that propelled them to a commanding 39-16 lead. Republic outscored Aurora 18-6 in the third and a running clock in the fourth ended the game at 64-25, Republic. Aurora's o" New post on Houn Dawg Sports Lady Houn’s battle, fall short in Pink and White by rodger Two local rivals traveled to Drury University for an opening round matchup in the Pink and White Lady Classic, but it was Marionville that came away with the win over Aurora to advance to the second round of the holiday tourney, winning 42-33. Aurora's offense had trouble putting the ball in the basket and Marionville had too many offensive rebounds in the first quarter and that helped the Lady Comets build a 10-4 lead after one period. Jordan Hall scored the Lady Houn's first four points of the second quarter to keep Aurora close, 12-8, but Marionville stretched the lead to as many as 10 in the quarter. A feisty Aurora defense got the Lady Houn's back to within four at the breat, 22-18. After cutting the deficit to just two points early in the third quarter, Marionville went on a decisive 8-0 run to stop Aurora's push and, thus, solidfy the third quarter and give the Lady Comets a 32-27 lead after three. Josie Young of Marionville took over in the fourth, scoring eight of her team's 10 fourth quarter points, and that would give the Lady Comets the win, 42-33.
