Aurora-----3-----0-----0----13 16
Lamar-------0----20----6----15 41
Game Summary
Auroratraveled to Lamar on October 19th desperately trying to get off of a 5 game skid. Their task was made more difficult by facing an opponent coming off of a Class 2A State Championship and also enjoying a 5 game winning streak.
Aurora got things going in the right direction early by receiving the opening kickoff and driving into Lamar territory before stalling out. Cody Coatney kicked a 30 yard field goal to put the Houns' up 3-0. The Dawgs defense would stiffen throughout the first quarter as Aurora finished it with a 3-0 lead.
The second quarter saw the Houns' hopes of a victory take a turn for the worst as Lamar would score 3 times to pull ahead of the Houns by a score of 20-3 at the half. Lamar came out in the 3rd quarter and tacked on another score to lead 26-3 after 3 quarters. The Dawgs got in on the scoring on a Brad Marlar 1 yard touchdown run and an Everett Basham 51 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, but Lamar scored 2 touchdowns of their own to pull away by a final score of 41-16.
