Cassville- ----14---14----7----8 43
Aurora---------0-----7----0----0 7
Game Summary
On a misty, foggy evening the Aurora Houn Dawgs took on the undefeated Cassville Wildcats at Kelley Field. The weather didn't get any better throughout the night and the dreariness of the night reflected in the results on the field for the Houns' as well. Cassville jumped on Aurora early 21-0 and finished the night strong to spoil Senior Night for the Dawgs. The loss dropped the Houns's to 3-5 overall as well as a 2-4 mark in Big 8 Conference play.
Cassville got the scoring started on a Brent Thompson 1 yard run. Cassville score twice more before the Houns' got into the end zone on scoring plays by Hayden Prater and Ty Craig. Aurora kept getting pinned deep in their own territory throughout the night, but on their fourth drive, Clayton Sumners found Andrew Parker with a 42 yard pass and catch to get them down to the 1yard line. Everett Basham found paydirt on the next play and Aurora was alive and kicking down 21-7. However, Garrett Kirk had a big 48 yard return after fumbling the kickoff to get Cassville back into the swing. A few plays later, he would find the end zone on a 34 yard touchdown pass thrown by his brother, Gabe. Cassville dominated the rest of the evening en route to a 43-7.

Aurora vs. Mt. Vernon (BELL BOWL)

Big 8 Conference Football Aurora vs. Mt. Vernon Bell Bowl 2012
October 5, 2012
Aurora ----0-----0----7----7 14
Mt. Vernon---------7-----7----0----6 20
Game Summary
Aurora traveled to Mt. Vernon for the 2012 version of the Bell Bowl. The Houn Dawgs were coming off of a 24-8 victory in last year's game, but could not extend that streak to 2 straight as they lost to the Mountaineers 20-14.
The game was definitely a tale of two halves. Mt. Vernon came out and racked up 233 yards of offense in the first half scoring early in the first quarter on an Alex Hausman touchdown pass to Zane Phillips. Later in the second quarter, Devan Morris added to the Mt. Vernon lead by scoring a 10 yard touchdown run. Mt. Vernon entered the half up by a score of 14-0. Aurora could only muster 52 yards of offense in the first half and badly needed to come out and change that statistic in order to get back in the game.
The Houns' came out in the 3rd quarter and seemed to do just that. Aided by a second wind and 119 of rushing offense from Everett Basham, the Houns outgained the Mountaineers by over 100 yards. Basham would score Aurora's first touchdown on a 27 yard run. At the end of 3 quarters, the score stood at Mt. Vernon 14, Aurora 7.
Bashamscored again early in the 4th quarter to tie up the game, however, momentum would quickly swing back into Mt. Vernon's as Shane Williams took the air out of the Dawgs with a 59 yard touchdown run. The extra point failed and gave Aurora a chance. Aurora's next drive stalled and as the Mountaineers tried to run out the clock, a third down passed sailed and was intercepted by Andrew Parker for 25 yards. The Dawgs came down to their last chance with 3 minutes left and only down 6. Aurora came up short on fourth down and Mt. Vernon was able to run out the clock and win the Bell Bowl 20-14.
