Aurora vs. Rogersville

Non-Conference Football
Aurora--------------0-----14----7----7 28
Rogersville--------14-----19----0----6 39
Game Summary
The Rogersville Wildcats have been struggling out of the gate this season with a 1-4 record. Perhaps they lost too many key players from last year's State Championship run, but they shook off the cobwebs early to jump on top of the Houns' 21-0 before Aurora could get themselves going. Aurora eventually turned up the heat on offense but it was too little too late as Rogersville rediscovered their swagger and were victorious at Kelley Field by the score of 39-28.
In the first quarter, Rogersville received the kickoff and passed their way down the field 68 yards in 10 plays to go up 7-0. Aurora fumbled on their first possession, giving Rogersville great field position as they scored on a Cody Chaney 10 yard TD run to go up 14-0.
Rogersville added a third touchdown in the second quarter to make it 21-0, but Clayton Sumners would get the Dawgs on the scoreboard with a 31 yard touchdown run. Rogersville answered with a score of their own but momentum shifted to the Houns' before the half as Andrew Parker caught an 8 yard touchdown pass as time expired. Halftime score was 33-14 in favor of Rogersville.
Aurora's defense stiffened in the third quarter and stopped the Wildcats from scoring. Everett Basham caught an 11 yard touchdown pass from Sumners to inch the Dawgs closer 33-21. With time running out in the 4th, Sumners tossed his third touchdown pass of the game to Andrew Parker to get the Dawgs within striking distance 33-28. However, an onside kick was unsuccessful and Rogersville shook off their sluggishness to get in the end zone and dash Aurora's hope of a comeback. Final score 39-28 Rogersville.
Clayton Sumners threw for 260 yards and 3 touchdowns while rushing for 100 yards and another score. Andrew Parker caught 8 passes for 106 yards and 2 scores.

Monett vs. Aurora Football

Big 8 Conference Football
Monett -----7-----0----6----8 21
Aurora-------0-----0----0----0 0

Game Summary
The Aurora Houn' Dawgs scheduled Monett for their homecoming game, but didn't get the happy result for the Alumni and Aurora community as the Monett Cubs left town with a 21-0 victory. Coming into the game, this was a matchup of Big 8 contenders. Monett entered the game with a 3-1 record and Aurora was also 3-1 and ranked #9 in the State. A big night by Aaron Hall who had 186 yards rushing and some untimely Aurora turnovers spoiled the evening.
Monett won the toss and deferred and Josh Fronabarger returned the opening kickoff 9 yards and the Houns' went on their first drive. Aurora was able to drive to midfield, but was forced to punt. Monett was held inside their 25, but Aaron Hall would break free on a 60 yard run to set up the first Cub touchdown. Monett's quarterback, Kyle Wood snuck in from 1 yard out. After the first quarter, the Cubs led 7-0.
Both teams stiffened their defenses and shut each other out in the second quarter. However, before the end of the quarter, Aurora had a big pass play from Clayton Sumners to Everett Basham for 38 yards. This put Aurora inside the 10 with under 10 seconds to go. Sumners passed to Kurt Hadlow, who was tackled on the 2 yard line before he could score which left the score at 7-0 in favor of Monett going into the half.
The third quarter saw the Houn' Dawgs kickoff to the Cubs and held them to 3 plays and a punt. However, a mistake on punt coverage allowed the Cubs to get the ball back inside Houn' Dawg territory. The Dawgs kept them out of the end zone. But Monett controlled the clock and the ball throughout the third quarter. Aurora only ran 8 plays compared to Monett's 20. The Cubs found the endzone late in the 3rd quarter on a 5 yard Aaron Hall TD run to go up 13-0.
In thefourth quarter, Aaron Hall scored again to put Monett ahead 21-0. The Houns' could not answer and fell to the Cubs to damper the spirits of the homecoming attendees.

Carl Junction ----15----13---10----7 45
Game Summary
On a rainy Friday night in Carl Junction, the Aurora Houn Dawgs dropped their first game of the year to the Bulldogs. Both teams came into the game with undefeated records in Big 8 play, but only Carl Junction remains perfect after this contest. That sets up a big game for Carl Junction who will face the only other undefeated Big 8 team left, the Cassville Wildcats, next Friday in Cassville.
Aurora was behind the 8 ball early in the game as Carl Junction took the opening kickoff close to midfield and scored 2 plays later to give them a 7-0 lead. On the next Aurora possession, the Bulldogs intercepted a pass and then went on to score another touchdown and 2 point conversion to lead 15-0.
In the second quarter, CJ scored on a 31 yard touchdown pass that left the Houns' stunned 22-0. However, the Houns' would respond by collecting themselves and getting their first score of the game via an Everett Basham 2 yard run. The Houn Dawgs forced CJ to punt and were driving to score when an untimely fumble recovery for a touchdown left the Dawgs reeling and down 28-8 as they entered halftime.
Aurora got the ball to start the second half, but were never able to reach the end zone. Carl Junction did find the end zone and tacked on a field goal as well to finish the 3rd quarter scoringwith a lead of 35-8. Seneca vs. Aurora

Big 8 Conference Football Seneca vs. Aurora September 7, 2012
@ Aurora, MO
Seneca ----0-----7----0----8 15
Aurora-----14----0---7----6 27
Game Summary
The Houn Dawgs met the Seneca Indians Friday night at Kelley Field. The game was delayed for an hour due to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the area. However, Aurora came out ready and matched the Indians physically and jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 27-15 victory.
In the first quarter Seneca chose to receive the opening kickoff. But on the third play from scrimmage, the Seneca quarterback threw an interception to Everett Basham. The Houn's capitalized on the mistake and took a 7-0 lead on Basham's first touchdown run of the night. Both teams traded possessions in the first quarter, but Aurora made some more noise at the end of the quarter in the form of a William Blankenship 1 yard TD run.
The Indians turned the tide in the second quarter by adding a touchdown of their own in the form of a Payton Rawlins 2 yard quarterback sneak. At the half, the score rested at 14-7 in favor of the Houns'.
The third quarter saw the Dawgs get on the board again with another Everett Basham touchdown. Seneca started their drive and was making progress until a Clayton Sumners blitz forced the quarterback into throwing his second interception, this time to Kurt Hadlow. The Houns would keep Seneca out of the endzone for the rest of the 3rd quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Aurora was able to cause enough havoc to Seneca as Chad Hughes and Josh McCulloch both registered sacks to hold the Indians down. Everett Basham scored the final Aurora touchdown and the Houns' were able to withstand a late Seneca touchdown to seal the victory 27-15. This game snaps an 8 year losing streak to the Indians.
