Game Summary
Aurora scored first in this Big 8 Contest and converted a 2 point conversion on a muffed snap in the first quarter. It was all of the scoring Aurora would need to best the East Newton Patriots. A stiff Houn' Dawg defense kept the Patriots out of the end zone and East Newton was only able to score on a special teams blocked punt.
The Houn's racked up over 300 yards of rushing offense and rushed for 5 TDs on the ground as well as passed for 46 yards and another score. The Houn Dawg defense was tough on the Patriots all night and limited them to 77 yards rushing and 53 yards passing with no scores against them.

Game Summary
The Aurora Houn' Dawgs traveled to Cassville on Friday, September 16th for a Big 8 Conference tilt. Aurora was looking for some payback on the defending conference champs and it looked like the Dawgs were up to the task physically. However, an early turnover led to a Kyle Brattin 10 yard TD run. The Dawgs had difficult field position for much of the second quarter and a blocked Aurora punt gave Cassville the ball on the Houns' 8 yard line. Ricky Nichols cashed in on the next play for a 14-0 lead going into halftime.
Aurora kicked off to start the 2nd half and stood toe to toe with Cassville for the rest of the game. Aurora drove the ball into the red zone a couple of times, but was not able to put points on the board. The only other Cassville score was on a 57 yard quick slant pass to Trey Rose that allowed Cassville to have a 21-0 cushion.
Aurora went to the passing game in the 4th quarter and chewed up a lot of yardage on their way to their first and only score, an 11 yard touchdown pass from Clayton Sumners to Andrew Parker. Aurora outgained the Wildcats offensively, 283 yards to Cassville's 225. Final score 21-7 Cassville.

Aurora 1-1 (0-1) Big 8 7 12 0 0 19
Lamar 2-0 (1-0) Big 8 7 19 6 8 40

Game Summary
Both teams had difficulties handling the football early on. Lamar was able to minimize it's mistakes and recover their fumbles while Aurora's hurt them more. An early Aurora turnover led to a 7-0 Lamar lead as they capitalized on an early gift.
Aurora looked to even things up as Austin Lenox returned the subsequent kickoff 86 yards and was tackled just short of the endzone. Another turnover cost the Houns', but Lamar returned the favor with a fumble of their own in the next two plays.
Aurora answered quickly with a 15 yard touchdown run by Everett Basham. A Manuel Rios extra point tied the game at 7. Lamar would score again on the first of 3 Markel White TD's on the evening, a 1 yard scamper. Aurora answered with a 65 yard Everett Basham TD run. Score 13-13.
Lamar scored again and when Aurora took over on offense, Everett Basham again got loose for a 52 yard run. The drive was capped by an Austin Lenox 1 yard QB sneak TD. Lamar scored late in the 2nd quarter to go into halftime up 26-19.
The Houns' were shut out in the 2nd half, although they threatened to score a couple of times, but were unable to keep the momentum going their way. Untimely turnovers and penalties on the Houns kept this game from being as great a game as was seen in the first half. The Dawgs were defeated by a score of 40-19.
